Surgery for Breast Cancer
The primary treatment option for breast cancer is surgery.
There are several different options that remove as much of the cancer as possible, and may also remove some lymph nodes, which may also contain cancer cells.
The type of surgery performed depends upon the size and location of the breast lump or tumor, the type and stage of the breast cancer, the size of the breast, and the woman's preference. Women should consult with their surgeon to determine the best surgical treatment for them.
