Mammogram Results
Negative/Normal
Congratulations. Your mammogram indicates that your breasts are healthy.

Continue with your regular monthly Breast Self Exams as well as your annual clinical breast exam and screening mammograms.

Benign Finding
This is nothing to worry about. A benign finding is a known non-dangerous finding on your x-ray, such as benign calcifications or intra mammary lymph nodes. These findings are reported for future exams or in case the x-rays are read by another physician.

Continue your regular monthly Breast Self Exams as well as your annual clinical breast exam and screening mammograms.

Probably Benign
A suspicious area was found on your mammogram. There is no need for concern yet. Although it could not be precisely identified, there is a greater than 98% chance if it being benign. Your breast care team (which includes you) will continue to closely monitor the area for changes over the next couple years.

You are encouraged to follow the instructions on your mammogram report along with continuing your regular monthly Breast Self Exams as well as your annual clinical breast exam and screening mammograms.

Suspicious Finding
A suspicious area was found on your mammogram. It doesn't look like it is cancerous, but more testing is recommended. You will likely be scheduled for more tests, and a biopsy is suggested.

If you have not already done so, we strongly encourage you to contact your primary care physician or the Clinical Navigator at UCH’s Breast Care Center at (813) 615-7120.

Highly Suggestive of Malignancy
There is at least a 96% chance that you have breast cancer, based on your mammography results. The next step is likely a biopsy.

Immediately contact your primary care physician or the Clinical Navigator at UCH’s Breast Care Center at (813) 615-7120.
